WHY you must crush your demons...

rituals give you freedom

 

waking up depressed and tired is a problem

 

because how can you perform at your best if you don't feel very good?

 

I've struggled with this for years

 

from the old days when I used to work in a bank and hated going to work each day

 

to the tough business times where getting out of bed is a struggle (and I wasn't sleeping great either)

 

how can we solve this?

 

CRUSH YOUR DEMONS

 

Each day, wake up and EXPECT to feel like shit

 

But have a process to improve your mood

 

I call this the 'crushing demons' ritual

 

it goes something like this (you can be creative though)

 

1) GET POSITIVE

 

Listen to some music or a youtube video that's motivating, uplifting and makes you feel better

 

your rational mind (the 'real' you) isn't really awake at this point so the chimp brain is LOUD. Moaning, complaining and being a little dick

 

Give it something to listen to.

 

I listen to motivational videos whilst brewing and drinking cofee

 

TIME = 10 mins

 

2) DO SOMETHING CALMING

 

Do something to relax. Read a book, meditate, do some yoga or easy stretches.

 

Absolutely no screens, no tv, computers or ipads - candy crush is not an acceptable calming method

 

Green tea and some yoga is.

 

I sit in the shower and meditate - simply deep breathing with my eyes closed - reminding myself that I can CHOOSE to have a good day. I will own the day

 

TIME = 12 mins (2 mins to get in and get ready - 10 mins meditation)

 

3) PRIME YOURSELF FOR THE DAY

 

By now you're awake, a little happier than usual, calmer than usual...

 

...now it's time to get ready for the day.

 

Go for a quick walk, breathing deeply, moving quickly.

 

It's important to get out of your normal situation - get outdoors in other words.

 

If this isn't possible - do some bodyweight squats and press-ups for 5 mins - just playing about really.

 

I go for a walk and do 'breath walking'

 

I breathe in for 6 steps, out for 6 steps

 

Constantly thinking of my goals being sucked into the vortex of energy I am creating

 

If I stop - so does progress towards my goals.

 

This gets me FIRED UP!

 

TIME = 15 mins.

 

* * *

 

TOTAL crushing demons ritual TIME = 45-60 mins

 

I choose to get up earlier than I want to and get this done.

 

You can do this in 15 mins or take longer, as I do.

 

It doesn't matter what you do

 

It matters that you DO it

 

Remember - each day is a fight

 

Other people have their own agendas

 

They almost guaranteed haven't done a good morning ritual or 'crushing demons' ritual

 

they'll be grumpy

 

you are in danger of being brought down by their crap mindsets!

 

So you must prepare!

 

1) GET POSITIVE

2) DO SOMETHING CALMING

3) PRIME YOURSELF FOR THE DAY
